Job summary

Saint Peter Middle School is seeking a long-term substitute to teach Physical Education for grades 5 and 6. The substitute will provide safe, engaging, standards-based instruction that helps students build physical skills, fitness, and teamwork.

This position reports to the Building Principal. The role requires a valid Physical Education license, prior middle school teaching experience is preferred, and CPR/First Aid certification is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and PE licensure.
• CPR/First Aid certification and policy familiarity.
• Experience teaching middle school or physical education.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and student information systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach physical education lessons aligned with state standards.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive gym environment.
• Manage student behavior and promote sportsmanship and respect.
• Assess student progress and keep accurate grade and attendance records.
• Follow IEPs, 504 plans, and other student support plans.
• Communicate with families and collaborate with staff.
• Supervise students during assigned duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
