Saint John XXIII School in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support a middle school classroom under the supervision of the teacher and principal.

The role requires 18+ age, a high school diploma or GED with BA preferred, Safe Environment training, and the ability to supervise students, assist with meals, field trips and classroom setup. This is a full-time hourly position focused on maintaining a safe, organized learning environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be a high school graduate or GED – BA preferred.
• Must participate in Safe Environment (Called to Protect) Training and sign the Code of Ethics Policy.
• Fingerprinting and Tuberculin tests and any other requirements shall be obtained prior to employment according to the Arizona Department of Health Services, Diocese of Phoenix and the Arizona State Dept. of Education

Responsibilities

• Assists the classroom teacher
• Assists in supervision and care of students
• Assists teacher in classroom care-giving routines
• Maintains a safe physical environment
• Supervises students during drills, assemblies, outdoor play, Mass, drop off/pick up, and field trips
• Assists specials teachers with their classes (Art, PE, Music, etc.)
• Assists in classroom setup, cleanup and materials preparation
• Assists in maintaining organization, cleanliness and security of the classroom
• Assists in food service and supervises meals
• Establishes rapport with children and works with individuals and groups
• Engages students in meaningful learning activities and experiences
• Assists with health, emergency procedures and first aid
• Reports accidents and prepares brief written reports
