Job summary

USA Mechanical & Energy Services is seeking a Mid-Level HVAC Mechanical Engineer to design and implement heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. This in-house, full-time role is based in East Granby, CT.

You will manage HVAC design tasks, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with ASHRAE, IMC, NEC and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–7 years of HVAC engineering experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit and HVAC load calculation tools.
• Strong knowledge of thermal systems, fluids and psychrometrics.
• Experience designing HVAC and plumbing for commercial/industrial facilities.
• Ability to interpret building codes and standards.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems for new construction and retrofit projects.
• Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and selection.
• Create and review layouts, ductwork, piping, schedules with CAD/BIM.
• Prepare construction documents and design narratives for proposals.
• Ensure designs meet codes (ASHRAE, IMC, NEC, local).
• Coordinate HVAC with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs; assist commissioning and field inspections.
• Evaluate system performance and life-cycle costs.
• Mentor entry-level engineers and contribute to technical reviews.
