Job summary

Olympia School District seeks an Assistant Coach for high school level swim to assist in education, leadership, supervision and organization of the sport/activity within the building. The role includes directing athletes, equipment checks, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Applicants should have prior coaching experience at the high school level or higher, plus First Aid/CPR, concussion training, and WIAA/OSD required training within the first weeks of the season.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience coaching swim at the high school level or above.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Current WIAA/OSD-approved training in “Head Injuries/Concussions”.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and organization for assigned sport/activity as directed by the Head Coach and building Athletic Director.
  • Provides direction and ongoing supervision of athletes, managers and support personnel before/during/after practices/conditioning sessions, games, travel and other school-sanctioned events as assigned by the Head Coach and building Athletic Director.
  • Maintains current knowledge of national, state, league and District rules and regulations for the sport/activity and student participation.
  • Reports unsafe equipment or facilities to the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
  • Teaches safety procedures to all athletes daily.
  • Completes annual evaluation process within established timelines.
