Qualifications

• Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
• Masters Degree preferred.
• Mississippi Certification as a Science Teacher or as required for position.

Responsibilities

• Teaches knowledge and skills in science in accordance with district curriculum.
• Promotes critical and creative thinking and analysis.
• Maintains a safe classroom environment suitable for individual and small group instruction.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials aligned to subject area.
• Designs learning activities to apply science to everyday life, including labs and projects.
• Instructs students in proper use and care of scientific equipment and chemicals.
• Performs ongoing assessment and adapts instruction to student needs.
• Maintains accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting as required.
• Encourages parental involvement and effective communication with students and parents.
• Coordinates with other staff and participates in meetings and committees.
• Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, and maintains inventory.
