Qualifications

  • Experience teaching mathematics and/or physics at the secondary (high school) level.
  • Strong content knowledge in Algebra, Physics, and related mathematical concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction.
  • Strong classroom management skills that foster a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Experience working with diverse learners, including multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and students with varied academic backgrounds.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and provide appropriate accommodations and modifications to support student success.
  • Experience using formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.
  • Knowledge of effective instructional strategies that promote conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to make complex mathematical and scientific concepts accessible through real-world applications and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Experience integrating technology into instruction to enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Commitment to equitable instructional practices and maintaining high expectations for all students.
  • Strong collaboration skills, including partnering with special education teachers, counselors, instructional coaches, and department colleagues.
  • Ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students while fostering student ownership of learning.
  • Experience facilitating inquiry-based learning, scientific investigation, and mathematical discourse.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing student needs, curriculum, and school initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills for lesson planning, assessment, and communication.
  • Ability to contribute positively to a collaborative Professional Learning Community (PLC) focused on continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning and staying current with best practices in mathematics and science instruction.
  • Willingness to contribute to the broader school community through student support, extracurricular activities, advisory, or other school initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise a diverse group of high school students in Math and Science aligned with district standards.
  • Utilize standards-aligned, data-driven instruction and assessment to monitor student progress.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and specialists to support student achievement and well-being.
  • Integrate technology to enhance engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Promote inquiry-based learning and mathematical discourse to develop conceptual understanding and problem-solving.
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in PLCs for continuous improvement.
  • Engage families and maintain open communication about student progress and expectations.
  • Uphold equity, code of conduct, and district policies in all classroom activities.
  • Provide accommodations/modifications to support diverse learners and maintain high expectations for all students.
