Mid-Pacific Institute is seeking a Temporary High School Japanese Language Teacher in Honolulu, HI. The role will transition from temporary to full-time and requires teaching multiple levels of Japanese language with student-centered strategies.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Japanese from an accredited university or college.
• At least two years' experience teaching high school Japanese.
• A Master’s Degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach multiple levels of high school Japanese language up to levels 3 and 4.
• Instruct students using a wide range of student-centered strategies.
• Incorporate educational technology into lesson design to enhance student learning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet student needs.
• Provide additional student support during Office Hours.
• Teach core concepts and skills as set out in the World Language Department’s scope and sequence.
• Prepare lesson plans following curriculum guidelines set by the department, school and external examining bodies.
• Collaborate with other department members in developing and updating the Japanese language curriculum.
• Design and implement lessons and assessments aligned with the school's assessment guidelines.
• Post homework and record results electronically using the information system.
• Maintain effective classroom management, liaising with deans and parents.
• Participate in faculty and departmental meetings and professional development.
• Carry out homeroom and advisory responsibilities.
• Determine budget needs and purchase pre-approved equipment/materials for courses.
• Regular and predictable attendance at work.
• Provide in-person instruction, supervision, and support during the school day.
