Responsibilities

• Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Danbury Board of Education
• Set and reinforce clear expectations and routines
• Manage the classroom and student behavior to create a positive learning environment
• Prepare lesson plans with clear objectives and appropriate techniques
• Demonstrate strong biology content knowledge
• Maintain accurate records
• Conduct parent/teacher conferences
• Assess student learning and identify interventions as needed
• Communicate student progress to parents via reports or conferences
• Design instruction to meet diverse learners' needs
• Develop and implement assessments to measure progress
• Maintain a positive learning environment and ethical student behavior
• Maintain ongoing communication with parents
• Assist in selecting textbooks and materials
• Engage in professional learning and development
• Demonstrate knowledge of biology teaching methods for secondary students
