Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Group exercise instructor certification required, preferably NCCA accredited.
• Nationally recognized NCCA Personal Trainer certification accepted for certain group fitness formats.
• Certification for some specialty group exercise class instruction is required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in group class instruction across styles, levels, and populations.
• CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness).
• Excellent inter-personal and communication skills with members in a positive, service-based manner.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain a professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Teach Group Exercise classes as scheduled, providing modifications for varying fitness levels.
• Understand contraindicated exercises to ensure safe and effective workouts.
• Maintain industry certification in good standing and meet CE requirements.
• Ensure arrival time allows setup, start on time, end on time, and clean up after class.
• Report equipment needs or repairs to supervisor immediately after class.
• Record participation numbers after every Group Exercise class.
• Demonstrate accountability to schedule by avoiding missed classes and arranging substitutes in advance.
• Provide a fun and engaging experience for participants.
• Work toward meeting departmental and organizational goals.
• Be flexible and accommodating regarding center hours and work schedules.
• Other duties as assigned.
