Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR, First Aid, AED and child abuse prevention training required on hire.
• Experience teaching group exercise classes preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Primary group fitness certifications (ACE, AFAA, NASM, Les Mills) or specialty certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead safe, effective group exercise classes per guidelines.
• Demonstrate proper techniques and accommodate different fitness levels.
• Create inclusive class environment and encourage participation.
• Monitor safety and respond to injuries or emergencies.
• Arrive prepared and on time; set up equipment.
• Maintain current certifications and safety policies.
• Communicate with participants, staff, supervisors about needs.
• Promote programs and wellness initiatives.
• Maintain clean and safe exercise environment.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Follow YMCA policies and emergency procedures.
