Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in exercise science/kinesiology preferred.
• Current nationally recognized Group Exercise Instructor certification or equivalent.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications required or obtainable within timeframes.
• Strong customer service, communication, and motivational skills.
• Ability to teach multiple classes per week and engage diverse participants.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead group exercise classes within certification and training scope.
• Demonstrate proper technique, provide modifications, and ensure safety.
• Build positive relationships and deliver exceptional member service.
• Promote YMCA health programs, personal training, and other services.
• Monitor safety, equipment use, and class attendance; enforce policies.
• Prepare class formats, music, and equipment for high-quality experience.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe exercise space before/after classes.
• Stay current with industry trends and maintain required certifications.
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and association events.
• Support YMCA fundraising efforts and perform other duties as assigned.
