Job summary

Gold's Gym in Austin, TX is seeking a Group X Instructor who will lead and motivate members in a structured group exercise setting, ensuring safety and an engaging atmosphere. You will educate participants on form, technique, and modifications while maintaining a positive, energetic presence.

The role requires CPR/AED and first aid training, six months of teaching experience, and a recognized group fitness certification (ACE/AFAA/ACSM).

Qualifications

• CPR/AED certification and first aid training.
• Six months of teaching in a group exercise environment.
• Nationally recognized group fitness certification (ACE/AFAA/ACSM).
• Specialized skill/training (Yoga, Pilates, Body Pump, etc.).
• Knowledge of choreography and safe movement patterns, music, cueing, rhythm.
• High energy and physical fitness to sustain workouts.
• Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, kinesiology and training principles.
• Engaging, motivational leadership with adaptability.
• Ability to create/follow choreography within class format.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Professionalism and ability to motivate others.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate members in group fitness classes according to approved formats.
• Instruct proper techniques, demonstrate exercises, and teach modifications.
• Provide clear verbal instructions for music tempo and class atmosphere.
• Coach participants toward fitness goals while monitoring for injuries.
• Engage with participants, orient new members, and solicit feedback.
• Ensure correct form and offer modifications for all fitness levels.
• Maintain professional attitude towards members and staff.
• Represent Gold's Gym group exercise professionally and dress appropriately.
• Arrange substitutes to avoid class cancellations when needed.
• Provide appropriate class music and avoid offensive lyrics.
• Ensure equipment and microphones are functional and well-maintained.
• Keep the GGX room clean and organized after use.
• Notify management of equipment or facility repairs.
• Record hours and attendance accurately for reporting.
