Job summary

Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc. is seeking motivated Freight Handlers to keep freight moving safely and efficiently in a fast-paced dock environment at the Commerce, CA onsite facility.

You will load, unload, tag, and secure shipments, operate forklifts and related equipment, and support cross-functional teams to sustain high throughput with a strong safety focus. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (or GED), 1–3 months of related experience, and the ability to read safety rules

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Forklift driver qualification required.
• Hazardous Material Training preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Experience in freight, logistics, warehouse, or LTL environments is a plus.
• Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain composure in a fast paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Execute high‑precision freight handling.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, and other industrial equipment to move freight.
• Transport freight between dock areas, trailers, and designated storage zones.
• Communicate effectively with operations leadership and dock supervisors to surface issues and delays.
• Prioritize tasks to meet operational timelines without sacrificing quality.
