Job summary

Oakland Schools is seeking an enthusiastic ESL Teacher to inspire and educate English language learners. You will collaborate with district teachers to co-plan, co-teach, and assess ELs, utilizing the WIDA ELD Standards Framework and the SIOP Model to make content comprehensible and build academic language.

Responsibilities include data analysis, MTSS coordination, family engagement, and ongoing professional development for staff.

Qualifications

• Certified NS (ESL) or bilingual teacher with valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with elementary or secondary certification, K-12 ESL endorsement required
• Strong background and experience in teaching and working with children.
• Demonstrate integrity, commitment, and initiative.
• Knowledge of teaching English as a second language and related assessment/delivery methods.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to co-plan, co-teach, co-assess, and co-reflect for ELs.
• Utilize WIDA ELD Standards Framework to integrate language development across content areas.
• Provide guidance on accommodations and scaffolds for multilingual learners.
• Maintain communications with regular classroom teachers about EL progress and concerns.
• Administer assessments and participate in decisions regarding eligibility, interventions, progress-monitoring, and exits from ESL/ELD programs.
