Job summary

Novant Health's Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC seeks an Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time day shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM). You’ll deliver expert care to patients of all ages in a high-acuity ED serving 15 counties, with a typical 4:1 patient ratio and a wide range of emergencies.

Qualifications

• One year of acute nursing experience required.
• Current RN licensure in appropriate state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; 4-year/Bachelors degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with an average 4:1 patient ratio.
• Perform rapid assessments and prioritize care using triage principles.
• Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments.
• Initiate and manage IV access, cardiac monitoring, and other emergency interventions.
• Care for patients experiencing cardiac, respiratory, neurological, endocrine, behavioral health, and other related emergencies.
• Assist with emergency procedures, code situations, and resuscitation efforts.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, imaging teams, and other healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic medical record.
• Advocate for patient safety while delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.

Skills

One year of acute nursing experience

Current RN licensure

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Bachelor's degree / 4-year degree (preferred)
