Job summary

Gateway Regional School District’s Littleville Elementary School in Huntington, MA is seeking an energetic Instructional Assistant for the integrated preschool classroom. The role supports children with and without disabilities, collaborates with teachers and therapists, and promotes language and social development.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred coursework in early childhood education and experience with autism.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
• Early childhood education coursework preferred.
• Experience with young children with and without disabilities preferred.
• Experience with or knowledge of autism preferred.
• Sign language knowledge is a plus but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Work with students with limited academic, behavioral and social skills and support children with disabilities.
• Promote independence, social skills and language development.
• Be flexible with job duties and take feedback from teachers and therapists.
• Maintain professionalism around confidentiality.
• Assist with toilet training and diaper changes; supervise outdoor activities.
• Assist with snack setup cleaning and disinfection and other duties as needed.
• Cover across two programs to ensure adequate support and services.
