Job summary

Mount Abraham Unified School District in Bristol, Vermont seeks an Educational Assistant to support a preschool-aged child with disabilities under an IEP, working with licensed educators in inclusive or special education settings.

The role focuses on promoting student engagement, independence and school readiness. You will provide direct student support, collect progress data, and collaborate with families and the teaching team to implement effective interventions.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or HQP certification required.
• CPR and First training, and licensing compliance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to follow administrative guidelines and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with students, families, staff and community.
• Ability to utilize software applications relevant to school operations.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct support to an individual student to reinforce instruction and skill development.
• Assist in implementing daily routines and activities across developmental domains.
• Support the student in participating in classroom activities, including transitions and circle time.
• Implement accommodations and behavioral strategies as outlined in the IEP or behavior plan.
• Collect data and observations to monitor student progress.
• Support multi-model communication systems (ASL, Speech Generating devices, etc.).
• Maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Assist with personal care needs including toileting, feeding, dressing and mobility.
• Foster positive interactions with students, families and team members.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development as required.
