• High School diploma or GED or literacy skills to work with teachers and students.
• Complete a Rhode Island DOE approved training program within three months or equivalent certification from another state.
• Knowledge of health, safety and emergency procedures in the learning environment.
• Support teachers by participating in instructional opportunities.
• Promote a learning environment with appropriate behavior and positive social interaction for students.
• Interact effectively with staff, parents, students and others outside of the school system.
• Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
