The Nieves Law Firm, APC seeks a full-time Associate Attorney with 1–6 years of criminal defense experience. CA Bar admission in good standing and the ability to appear in Bay Area courts are required.

Qualifications

• 1–6 years of criminal defense experience.
• J.D. and good standing with the State Bar of CA.
• High energy and eagerness to learn.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Willingness to travel throughout Alameda County and the surrounding Bay Area.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality and objectivity.
• Prepare for hearings in advance, research potential issues, guide the clients clearly, and provide strategic advice.
• Advocate for and secure the best possible outcome for clients.
• Be familiar with and apply post-conviction remedies.
• Stay up to date on changes in the law.
• Properly advise clients on the direct and collateral consequences of their case.
• Draft and submit motions and other filings on time - meeting internal and external deadlines.
• Arrive at work and court on time in professional and appropriate attire.
• Maintain a good rapport with clients and treat them with respect.
• Participate in ongoing training as required by the Firm.
• Participate in networking and community events as required by the Firm.
• Accurately and concurrently bill time
