Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Teacher responsible for the instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes under the school principal's supervision. You will plan lessons, prepare materials, monitor attendance, and maintain accurate records of student achievement.

You will apply contemporary teaching methods, develop engaging instructional activities, communicate with parents about progress, and participate in professional development and school activities as required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of student teaching and coursework to obtain the Illinois teaching certificate(s).
• License requirement: Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).
• Knowledge of current teaching methods, classroom management, and educational technology.

Responsibilities

• Plan lessons and prepare instructional materials aligned with standards.
• Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate records of achievements.
• Maintain a positive learning environment and administer discipline as needed.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and concerns.
• Participate in in-service and professional staff meetings; support extra-curricular activities.
