Job summary

Henrico County Public Schools is seeking substitutes to provide instruction in assigned schools on a short term or long term basis. The role requires delivering differentiated instruction, planning with teams, and maintaining behavioral expectations while adapting to daily school needs.

Minimum qualifications include 60 semester hours or two years of child-related experience, and completion of Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition and Intervention training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 60 semester hours of college credit or 2 years experience working with children.
• Must complete Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition and Intervention training.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally and assist with student safety.

Responsibilities

• Improvise lessons in emergencies where the teacher cannot provide detailed plans.
• Plan, prepare and deliver curriculum content to students.
• Establish clear objectives for all activities.
• Use district curriculum to plan daily instruction.
• Assess student learning using multiple tools and adjust instruction.
• Maintain a positive classroom climate and manage behavior.
• Collaborate with staff to plan and deliver instruction.
• Incorporate technology to support instruction and learning.
• Communicate with parents and administration as needed.
