Job summary

Requires ARDMS/CCI registration or eligibility within 18 months, NM Echo Sonographer license, and BLS certification. Two years of echocardiography experience preferred. Per diem shifts available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two-year allied health education program preferred.

• Manual dexterity to perform echocardiograms.

Responsibilities

• Performs technically proficient 2D, M-mode and Doppler cardiac exams.
• Coordinates scheduling, patient transport, and billing information entry.
• Assists cardiologist while dictating exams by preparing M-modes and sharing pertinent information.
• Acts as go-between to deliver, pick up and distribute dictations.
• Responds to patients’ needs during exam; reports changes to physician or nurse in charge.
• Logs patients and exams; files patient records in the department.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities at department, interdepartmental and hospital levels.
• Shares responsibility for on-call coverage for echo emergencies outside regular hours as policy allows.
• Maintains quality control of equipment and coordinates repairs as needed.
• Keeps current on advances in Echocardiography; seeks mentorship with cardiologists.
• Assists with other cardiac procedures as needed.
