Job summary

Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, AZ is looking for a Boys JV Basketball Coach to mentor student-athletes in game strategy and fundamental skills. You will help plan practices, assign positions, and teach rules, equipment use and team conduct.

Responsibilities include monitoring academic eligibility, supervising athletes, maintaining equipment, and coordinating with the Head Coach. Some travel on district transportation may be required; immediate start date.

Qualifications

• Ability to organize practice schedules for individual and team development.
• Knowledge of basketball rules, equipment and technique.
• Commitment to academic eligibility and student safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist with organizing team prospects and encouraging participation.
• Assist with player skill assessment and position assignments.
• Develop regular practice schedules for individual and team development.
• Coach and instruct players on rules, equipment, and techniques.
• Observe players in practice and games and report needs for improvement.
• Help determine game strategy based on team capabilities.
• Ensure proper supervision and behavior of student athletes.
• Monitor academic performance to maintain eligibility.
• Follow procedures for injuries and care.
