Qualifications

• The classroom teacher will meet all qualifications and behavior standards as set by the Kansas Department of Education.
• Certified by the state with appropriate level-area endorsements preferred.
• A valid Kansas Teacher’s Certificate (applicable level-area endorsements preferred).
• A completed credential file that meets district standards.
• Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.
• Evidence of willingness to comply with ethical and professional performance standards.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Teaches biology concepts to pupils.
• Plans and delivers a science program including demonstrations, lectures, discussion, and student experiments.
• Organizes laboratory activities for optimal learning.
• Demonstrates scientific concepts using apparatus, experiments, charts, and instructional aids.
• Instructs pupils in proper use, care, and safety of chemicals and equipment.
• Maintains safe storage and proper use of materials and tools.
• Modifies teaching to meet individual student needs.
• Communicates high expectations to all learners.
• Seeks and responds to suggestions and concerns.
• Incorporates appropriate technology.
• Implements district curriculum effectively.
• Develops lesson plans with effective design.
• Uses research-based practices and current resources to meet goals.
• Models higher-order thinking and problem solving.
• Routinely uses assessments to inform instruction.
• Uses data to guide instructional decisions.
• Establishes assessment standards and learner expectations.
• Aids students in developing self-assessment skills.
• Maintains up-to-date records of student progress.
