Job summary

Gaston College invites applications for a full-time Biology faculty member. The position involves teaching day and evening classes at multiple instruction sites, including online and at high school locations, with service to College and community.

Strong emphasis on student success, ongoing professional development, and open educational resources is expected. Responsibilities include course delivery, syllabus use, grading, office hours, and active participation in committees and college

Qualifications

• Masters degree in biology is required.
• Must meet SACSCOC criteria and the minimum criteria of other pertinent accrediting, licensing, and credentialing agencies in the area of teaching assignment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assigned classes of instruction in the best manner to achieve student learning; present information, ideas, and skills in ways that accommodate diverse learning styles.
• Provide students with the approved course syllabus and relate instruction and evaluation to that syllabus.
• Maintain regular office hours, accessibility to students, and serve as a success coach.
• Evaluate student achievement with timely interim and final evaluations and assign grades following college policy.
• Maintain instructional quality and revise syllabi; develop new courses using open educational resources (OER).
• Use of College technology systems such as Blackboard, AVISO, accessibility software, etc. required.
• Attend Department, Division, and College meetings and participate in graduation.
• Maintain currency in content areas through professional development.
