Job summary

RT Specialty, a division of Ryan Specialty, seeks an Underwriting Associate to support senior underwriters by analyzing applications, risk factors, and compliance with guidelines in Austin, TX. You will coordinate quoting, binding, and issuance, and collaborate with brokers and reinsurers.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor's degree (business administration or risk management preferred) with 1+ year underwriting experience and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration or Risk Management preferred.
• 1+ year related experience in underwriting or similar role.
• Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
• Advanced technical underwriting knowledge and high level of knowledge of insurance principles, practices and procedures.
• Licenses: State P&C and/or surplus line licenses; AIS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes quality, quantity, and profitability of highly complex risks underwritten; prepares and presents reports to management.
• Coordinates the quoting, binding, and issuance process; reviews submission information with the underwriter.
• Researches and applies appropriate rates, coverages, and policy forms.
• Develops and maintains agency and/or broker relationships with large producers within the assigned territory.
• Maintains accurate file documentation in accordance with company guidelines.
• Supports special underwriting projects and other duties as assigned.
