Responsibilities include curriculum development, assessment design, and guiding students through degree pathways. A Master’s in Secondary Mathematics Education and NM licensure are required, with preference for a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education.
• Three years of teaching mathematics at the secondary school level.
• Three years of teaching students in a culturally diverse environment.
• Understands NM Educator Preparation Program requirements for secondary mathematics teachers.
• Obtains New Mexico teaching license for Secondary Mathematics Education.
• Maintains educational competencies in area of instruction.
• Professional excellence, community service and/or publication.
• Valid and clean state driver’s license.
• Must pass background check with no felonies or child abuse history.

Responsibilities

• Develops a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education.
• Oversees assessment of program candidates and gateway requirements.
• Designs tests and evaluation rubrics; assesses student achievement.
• Maintains student records and advises students on degrees/certificates.
• Collaborates with colleagues to share knowledge and innovations.
