Job summary

Saige Partners in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks an experienced Assistant Body Shop Manager / Estimator to join a high-volume truck body shop. This role blends hands-on estimating with operational leadership to keep multiple projects moving efficiently.

You will support daily operations, inspect trucks, prepare accurate estimates, and coordinate timelines with customers, insurers, and technicians while upholding quality, safety, and service standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in body shop estimating.
• Strong understanding of collision and body repair processes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Body Shop Manager with daily operations, workflow, scheduling, and performance.
• Inspect damaged commercial trucks and determine scope of repairs.
• Prepare accurate estimates for labor, parts, paint, body repairs, and related services.
• Manage the estimating process from initial inspection through repair completion.
• Coordinate technicians, parts, schedules, and repair timelines.
• Review estimates and repair plans with customers and management.
• Communicate with customers, insurance companies, adjusters, vendors, and partners.
• Prepare insurance documentation, estimates, supplements, and other repair records.
• Identify additional damage and prepare supplemental estimates as needed.
• Track multiple repair projects and progress dates.
• Ensure technicians have parts and info needed to complete repairs.
• Troubleshoot scheduling and operational issues as they arise.
• Maintain high standards for quality, productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.
• Assist with estimating specialized projects such as repainting or non-standard work.
