Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education with a valid North Carolina teaching certificate.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with students, staff and parents.
• Functional knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrate strong content knowledge.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
• Ability to monitor the safety and well-being of students.
• Comply with confidentiality requirements in policies and statutes.
• Physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Follow all rules, policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues.
• Plan a program of study that meets individual needs and aligns with guidelines.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals and communicate objectives to students.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that meet stated objectives.
• Assess student accomplishments and provide progress reports.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
• Assist administration in implementing policies and rules for student life and classroom conduct.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistants and evaluate their performance.
• Attend staff meetings and participate on committees.
