Job summary

NHE, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to support daily maintenance at our Manning/Lake City, SC communities. You’ll perform repairs, make-readies, and preventive maintenance under supervision, with opportunities to advance to Technician II.

The role requires dependability, strong customer service, and the ability to work flexible hours including weekends and on-call rotations. Great fit for hands-on individuals committed to quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Trade school or technical training preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting 50+ pounds, climbing ladders, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
• Prior apartment maintenance experience preferred but not required.
• Strong customer service and resident relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, drywall, and pool systems.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents, including inspections, repairs, cleaning, and make-ready activities.
• Complete resident service requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Respond to maintenance emergencies as needed.
• Conduct daily property inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and curb appeal opportunities.
• Assist in implementing and completing preventive maintenance programs.
• Maintain community grounds, common areas, and overall property appearance.
• Coordinate work priorities with the Community Manager and Maintenance Supervisor.
• Safely operate, maintain, and store tools and equipment.
• Monitor vendor work and assist with quality control efforts when necessary.
• Support emergency response activities, including weather-related events, fire, water intrusion, and other property emergencies.
• Provide maintenance assistance at other communities as requested.
• Participate in required training, certification, and professional development programs.
