Job summary

The University of Kansas invites applications for part- to full-time instructor positions in the School of Public Affairs & Administration to develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses for in-person and online delivery. The appointed Instructor is an instructional, adjunct faculty member not eligible for tenure or promotion; renewal depends on needs, funding, and performance.

Applications are reviewed year-round with start dates as needed.

Qualifications

  • MA in discipline or relevant field OR BA in discipline and 5 years of relevant work experience directly related to specific area of instruction.
  • PhD in relevant field OR Master’s and 7 years of relevant work experience directly related to specific area of instruction; record of research, scholarship or achievement in discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a specified number of courses per semester, undergraduate or graduate, face‑to‑face, hybrid, or online.
  • Design course content and syllabus following departmental guidance and KU standards.
  • Prepare for and attend all class meetings; provide timely feedback and instructor/student interaction.
  • Provide instruction for course(s) with online courses matching face‑to‑face experiences.
  • Develop and administer assignments and tests, evaluate student work, and assign grades.
  • Be available for students; maintain office hours and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Adhere to departmental, college and university policies.

Education
