Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a licensed teacher to provide high-quality instruction and guidance to students in assigned classrooms. Under the principal's supervision, the teacher will develop lesson plans, monitor progress, and maintain discipline in accordance with CPS policies.

The role requires completion of student-teaching requirements and possession of an ISBE-approved teaching certificate (PEL or ELS). Strong communication with families and collaboration with staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Must complete student teaching requirements and coursework to obtain ISBE teaching certificate.
• Possess a Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) endorsed for this position.
• Knowledge of curriculum content and classroom management practices.
• Ability to communicate with parents/guardians about student progress, attendance, and conduct.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional activities and prepare lesson plans aligned with the instructional program.
• Establish positive expectations and maintain accurate attendance records.
• Implement instructional methods reflecting current teaching theories and resources.
• Communicate with parents/guardians and confer on student progress and behavior.
• Participate in staff meetings and school programs; supervise during school activities as needed.
