Job summary

Miller Intermediate School in Houston, Texas invites applications for a 2026-2027 5th Grade Math Teacher. The successful candidate will plan engaging lessons, assess student progress, and collaborate with staff to support diverse learners.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree and a valid Texas teaching certificate, ESL certification within 2 years, and experience with gifted programs. This is a full-time, on-site position with 187-day schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training.
• Current ESL Certification: ESL Certification required within (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in the 2010-2011 school year
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
• Gifted Teachers must have 30 hours of gifted approved hours required

Responsibilities

• Serve a diverse population of students in general education and state/federal programs.
• Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
• Abide by the Alief ISD Code of Civility.
• Maintain an acceptable attendance rate – 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies).
• Confer with and foster professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators on a regular basis per building and district guidelines.
• Plan and participate in meetings and provide appropriate documentation for students regarding admissions, reviews, progress, grades, dismissals, conferences, etc.
• Comply with state and federal laws, district policies, rules, regulations and administrative directives as they exist or may hereafter be amended.
