Job summary

Gallup-McKinley County Schools seeks an athletic coach for the 5th Grade Boys Basketball program at David Skeet Elementary School for the winter season. The coach will develop fundamental skills, team strategies, and sportsmanship while ensuring safety and positive student engagement.

The role requires on-site attendance, evenings/weekends as needed, and adherence to licensing requirements; reports to the athletic director and works with school principals to foster character and academic

Qualifications

• Has ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has prior successful coaching experience in major sports.
• Head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamentals, strategy and physical training for team success.
• Instruct and demonstrate behaviors promoting character development and self-discipline.
• Upgrade knowledge through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
• Work with students interested in sports, provide practice support and guidance to beat opposing teams.
• Evenings and weekends may be required for practices and events.
