Job summary

Catholic Charities in Council Bluffs, IA, is seeking a Shelter and Housing Coordinator to oversee the DVSA shelter and housing services, supervise staff, ensure program compliance, and partner with local agencies to help survivors access housing and support.

The role focuses on building collaborative relationships, guiding service plans, coordinating 24-hour shelter operations, and promoting safety, access to resources, and stable housing for families in SW Iowa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field.
• 1-2 years related job experience and/or training; supervisory experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information professionally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shelter and housing services and staff to ensure contracts/standards compliance and monitor progress.
• Assist Programs in goals, monitor grants, and complete quarterly/annual reports.
• Build partnerships with service providers to facilitate access to housing and resources.
• Lead awareness campaigns and community outreach to promote DVSA services and housing options.
• Schedule and supervise 24-hour shelter staffing; provide back-up coverage as needed.
• Guide casework and crisis counseling; develop/update service plans for clients; ensure confidentiality.
