Job summary

Western Veterinary Partners externship program offers veterinary students the chance to gain real-world experience by applying classroom knowledge in a clinical setting. Students in any grade can apply for an externship with a WVP Practice during clinical year externship blocks or as informal externships.

As an extern, you will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in client communication, case ownership, diagnostics, in-house labs, surgical observations/assistance,

Qualifications

• Veterinary student in any year
• Externship with WVP offers hands-on clinical experience
• Opportunity to learn clinic management and patient care

Responsibilities

• Work closely with supervising veterinarian to gain experience in client communication, taking histories, and physical exams
• Develop and own treatment plans, diagnostics, and in-house labs
• Observe/assist or perform surgical procedures including dental procedures
• Contribute to medical management of patients and maintain records and relationships with medical team and clients
