Western Veterinary Partners offers veterinary students externships across our US practices, providing real-world experience by applying classroom knowledge in the clinic. Students at any year are welcome, with opportunities to work in small animal, mixed animal, dental, exotics, and other settings.

As an extern, you’ll gain hands-on experience, learn client communication, and build your veterinary network while exploring practice management and potential post-graduation opportunities.

Qualifications

• Veterinary students in any grade may apply for externship.
• Experience in client communication, taking histories, and case management is emphasized.
• Opportunity to observe or assist surgical/dental procedures and to learn practice management.

Responsibilities

• Gain experience in client communication and taking patient histories.
• Develop treatment plans and manage cases with supervising veterinarian.
• Observe/assist or perform in-house diagnostic tests and labs.
• Observe or assist surgical procedures and dental procedures.
• Build skills in time management, record keeping, and client relations.
