Parkville Animal Hospital offers veterinary student externships designed to complement your college curriculum. Externs work under veterinary supervision to practice problem-solving, technical and communication skills gained in your clinical preparation.

A mentor will guide you and evaluate your performance throughout the externship. Rotations are flexible, typically two or three weeks, ranging from two to eight weeks per year.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in an accredited DVM program.
• You are authorized to work in the United States.
• You must carry professional liability insurance (AVMA PLIT coverage).

Responsabilités

• Gather histories under supervision.
• Perform physical examinations.
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
• Scrub in to surgery.
• Assist in management of medical cases.
• Provide wellness care.
• Develop client communication skills.
• Polish technical skills and prepare SOAP notes within daily time limits.
