Job summary

North Buffalo Animal Hospital offers a veterinary externship for students in accredited DVM programs. Externs work under supervision in a small animal practice, gaining hands-on experience in history taking, exams, diagnostics, treatment planning, and client communication.

The program runs two to eight weeks with flexible scheduling including days, evenings and weekends. A stipend of $250 per week is provided.Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited DVM program, authorized to work in the

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in an accredited DVM program.
• You are authorized to work in the United States.
• You must carry professional liability insurance (AVMA PLIT) with certificate of coverage.

Responsibilities

• Take histories and perform physical examinations under supervision.
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for cases.
• Scrub in to surgery and assist in management of medical cases.
• Provide wellness care and client communication, including documentation (SOAPs).
• Produce accurate medical records within daily practice time limits.
