Job summary

Child and Family Services Haven House in Western New York is seeking a Domestic Violence Advocate to provide crisis intervention, safety planning and referrals to victims of domestic violence in diverse settings including police, courts, CPS, and community programs.

The role involves on-call crisis response, information and linkages to counseling, assistance with court documents, and collaboration with law enforcement and the judiciary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level social work degree or equivalent education and experience.
• NYS driver's license required.
• At least 2 years paid professional experience in domestic violence or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning and referrals to victims of domestic violence.
• Provide information and linkage to counseling services and other community resources.
• Provide follow-up to ensure linkage with agencies and court/judicial processes.
• Provide legal advocacy and/or court accompaniment and assist in preparing court documents.
• Assist victims with NYS OVS/CVB claims applications and documentation.
• Maintain case notes and reports for funding sources.
