Job summary

ASML is seeking a FLS Production Engineer for the Wilton Factory to support first-line production engineering activities in a high‑tech environment. The role involves extensive cleanroom work, rapid troubleshooting of optical, mechanical, and electrical systems, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams to resolve disturbance notices.

The candidate will contribute to the development of diagnostics, procedures, and work instructions while supporting PFMEA and root-cause analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, or Optical Engineering is required.
  • Prior internship in an engineering environment is preferred.
  • Experience reading optical, mechanical, and electrical drawings is essential.
  • Familiarity with NX, Teamcenter, and SAP is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Spend ~75% in the cleanroom providing direct support to production processes and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical assembly, glass-to-metal bonding, flow, and thermal issues.
  • Troubleshoot module test and final qualification issues; support tooling and test stands.
  • Develop OCAPs, Fishbones, and troubleshooting guidelines for production staff.
  • Support diagnostics qualification and implementation for production staff.
  • Evaluate and disposition failed parts with proposed solutions.
  • Assist development of manufacturing procedures and technical work instructions.
  • Support DOA root cause analysis and PFMEA.

FLS Production Engineer - G2M & Mechanical and Mechatronics Competency

Job Mission

ASML is the world’s leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry, manufacturing complex machines that are critical to the production of integrated circuits or microchips. This position is for a First Line Support Production Engineer with an innovative attitude to work in the Production Engineering department in Wilton Factory. The candidate will work with cross‑sector employees to provide rapid response to resolve disturbance notices related to engineering issues and to perform the engineering steps listed in the production operator dashboard (POD) to support output.

Responsibilities
  • Spend about 75% of time in the Cleanroom providing direct support to production processes and troubleshooting
  • Provide efficient response to troubleshoot mechanical assembly issues
  • Provide efficient response to troubleshoot glass‑to‑metal bonding issues
  • Provide efficient response to troubleshoot flow and thermal issues
  • Provide efficient response to troubleshoot module test and final qualification issues
  • Provide efficient response to troubleshoot tooling and test stand issues
  • Develop OCAPs, Fishbones and troubleshooting guidelines
  • Support diagnostics qualification and implementation for production staff
  • Evaluate and disposition failed parts with proposed solutions
  • Support development of Manufacturing procedures and technical work instructions
  • Support design and document reviews for diagnostics
  • Support DOA Root Cause Analysis
  • Support cycle time and labor hours roadmap implementation
  • Support PFMEA
  • Able to read optical, mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, LabVIEW and Python
  • Potential for exposure to strong magnetic fields, high voltage and currents in the workplace
  • The employee is required to work in a cleanroom environment
    • Full gowning (full body coveralls, hood, CR safety shoes, face mask, nitrile gloves and safety glasses. Working under ISO 9000/14000 standards)
    • Working around overhead cranes, forklifts and motorized pallet movers
    • Working around lasers; working with ladders; working on platforms; and working around chemicals
Work Schedule
  • D1 – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday with every other Wednesday 6:00 am‑6:00 pm
  • D2 – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday with every other Wednesday 6:00 am‑6:00 pm
  • N1 – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 6:00 pm‑6:00 am with every other Wednesday
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, or Optical Engineering
Experience
  • Prior internship in an Engineering environment with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Working knowledge with epoxy application in opto‑mechanical designs
  • Working knowledge with mechanical assembly and alignment
  • Working knowledge with mechanical tooling and test equipment
  • Working knowledge with epoxy dispensing equipment
  • Working knowledge with epoxy processing and curingWorking knowledge of detectors, electro‑optical devices and opto‑mechanical constructions
  • Experience in a production environment with high‑tech products and complex production processes
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing
  • Working knowledge with optical‑electrical sensors is a plus
  • Working knowledge of geometric optics, wave optics, Gaussian propagation, and aberration theory is a plus
  • Experience in the field of technical Production Engineering and quality methodology such as statistical process control and FMEA is a plus
  • Working knowledge of NX, Teamcenter and SAP is a plus
