Palace Entertainment is a leading leisure park operator in the United States and Australia overseeing more than 25 entertainment venues, hotels, and educational venues across 11 different states.

Palace Entertainment owns and operates some of the country’s largest and most prestigious venues including: National Historic Landmark, Kennywood Park, America’s Oldest Amusement Park, Lake Compounce, the world’s first ever Cartoon Network Hotel, Best Family Theme Park Dutch Wonderland, and a variety of other family-friendly parks and campgrounds throughout the United States.

We are currently looking for a: Dutch Wonderland Ride Operator Level 5

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Greet and interact with guests in a fun and professional manner.
  2. Must enjoy interacting with guests of all ages.
  3. Follow all Dutch Wonderland and manufacturer established safety regulations.
  4. Operate assigned ride or attraction in accordance with company policy and procedure, state and federal regulations, and safety protocols.
  5. Conduct morning inspections of assigned ride before daily operation begins.
  6. Test rides daily before opening to guests.
  7. Answer questions related to ride operations and the park.
  8. Maintain an environment that ensures the safety of all employees and guests.
  9. Responsible for performing and enforcing accurate height, weight, or age requirements for all rides and attractions.
  10. Determine if each guest entering a ride is wearing the proper wristband.
  11. Maintain flow of guests while limiting the number of guests on the loading platform.
  12. Give directions and deliver instructions using a microphone or other communication devices.
  13. Properly check all safety restraints to ensure they are in the correct and locking position before ride cycle begins.
  14. Operate rides with conveyor belts and chain-driven rides.
  15. Maintain constant vigilance while ride is operating and ensure that all riders are following appropriate safety measures.
  16. Must be alert and have quick reaction time to stop a ride properly in case of an emergency.
  17. Perform opening and closing procedures for assigned rides.
  18. Report ride-related issues and mechanical failures to management and maintenance promptly.
  19. Protect guest belongings; turn in lost and found items as soon as time allows.
  20. Ability to operate all levels of rides throughout Dutch Wonderland.
  21. Perform all other duties assigned by leadership.

Education & Experience:

  1. There is no minimum education requirement.
  2. No previous experience is required.
  3. All Rides Team Members must go through the International Ride Operator Certification (iROC) course as a part of the training. Successful course completion is required for this position. There is no cost to the team member for the course.

Languages: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.

Requirements:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with PA Child Labor Laws.
  2. Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  3. Ability to comply with all uniform policies.
  4. Must possess a safety-oriented mindset and understand the importance of complying with all Federal, State, and local regulations regarding ride operation.
  5. Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions.
  6. Must be guest-focused and also work well with other team members and supervisors.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, or squat for long periods of time.
  2. Ability to reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
  3. Ability to remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
  4. Ability to climb or descend stairs for some coasters, rides, and attractions.
  5. Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 20 pounds or more.
  6. Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away.

Working Conditions:

Frequent interaction with a variety of motorized and chain-driven rides and attractions. Frequent exposure to variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions. Frequent exposure to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, vibrations, and heavily populated environments.
