Responsibilities

• Lead monthly financial close for two plants, including entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting.
• Analyze results vs budget/forecast and explain variances in labor, materials, overhead, scrap, and efficiency.
• Maintain product costing, inventory valuation, and standard costs.
• Review physical inventory counts and resolve discrepancies.
• Develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts with plant leadership.
• Monitor margins, labor efficiency, utilization, inventory, and capex.
• Evaluate financial impact of new programs, launches, pricing, and process improvements.
• Maintain consistent accounting practices and reporting across sites.
• Support audits, tax requests, and corporate reporting; lead plant accounting staff when applicable.
• Present insights to plant managers, Corporate Controller, and senior leadership.

Position Summary

The Dual Plant Controller is responsible for leading the financial operations of the Ohio and Alabama manufacturing facilities. Based in Canal Winchester, Ohio, this position oversees plant financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls for both locations.

The Controller works closely with plant leadership to provide financial insight, explain business performance, identify opportunities to improve profitability, and support sound operational and financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly financial close process for both plants, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and timely financial reporting.
• Analyze financial results against budget, forecast, and prior periods, and explain variances related to labor, materials, overhead, scrap, and production efficiency.
• Maintain accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and standard costs.
• Review physical inventory counts and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Develop annual budgets and monthly forecasts in partnership with plant leadership, including sales, headcount, capital spending, and working capital.
• Monitor key plant performance measures, including margins, labor efficiency, utilization, inventory, and capital spending.
• Evaluate the financial impact of new programs, product launches, pricing changes, capital projects, and process improvements.
• Establish and maintain consistent accounting practices and financial reporting across the Ohio and Alabama facilities.
• Maintain effective internal controls and support audits, tax-related requests, and corporate reporting requirements.
• Lead and develop plant accounting staff, where applicable.
• Present financial insights, findings, and recommendations to plant managers, the Corporate Controller, and senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including substantial experience in manufacturing cost accounting.
• Experience with plant financial reporting, inventory accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with an ERP system.
• Ability to work effectively with operations leaders at both locations.
• Ability to travel to the Alabama plant approximately 10–15% of the time.
• Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
