Job summary

Capital School District in Delaware is seeking a Secondary ELA/Special Education Teacher for grades 7–12, with dual certification in English Language Arts and Special Education. This 10-month position reports to the building principal and aligns with the district’s mission to support diverse learners.

Candidates must meet Delaware certification requirements, complete Praxis II, and demonstrate strong content knowledge in ELA and special education.

Qualifications

• Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for secondary ELA.
• Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for special education (Exceptional Child Spec Ed K-12).
• Strong content knowledge of secondary ELA and special education.
• Completed Praxis II exam.
• Highly Qualified in Secondary ELA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach ELA to students in grades 7-12 with dual certification in special education.
• Collaborate with staff and parents to support student learning.
• Plan a program of study meeting individual needs, interests and abilities.
• Prepare lessons with written evidence of preparation for supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Be available for educational purposes outside the instructional day as needed.
