Job summary

Capital School District in Delaware is seeking a Secondary ELA/Special Education Teacher for grades 7–12, with dual certification in English Language Arts and Special Education. This 10-month position reports to the building principal and aligns with the district’s mission to support diverse learners.

Candidates must meet Delaware certification requirements, complete Praxis II, and demonstrate strong content knowledge in ELA and special education.

Qualifications

• Completed Praxis II exam.

Responsibilities

• Teach ELA to students in grades 7-12 with dual certification in special education.

• Plan a program of study meeting individual needs, interests and abilities.
• Prepare lessons with written evidence of preparation for supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.

Minimum Qualifications

• Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for secondary ELA
• Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for special education (Exceptional Child Spec Ed K-12)
• Strong content knowledge of secondary ELAand special education.
• Successful completion of PraxisII exam.
• Teacher who is designated Highly Qualified in Secondary ELA preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach ELAto students in grades 7-12. Dual certification required in special education.
• Works cooperatively with all staff and parents
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
• Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
• Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's mission statement.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
• With notice and consistent with employment commitments, is available to students and parents, within reason, for educational related purposes outside the instructional day
• Performs other duties as assigned
