Peter Millar LLC is seeking a DTC Merchandise Planner to act as a analytical partner to the Senior Manager of E-Commerce Planning for our direct-to-consumer business. The role focuses on delivering accurate forecasts, open-to-buy targets, and coordinated follow-through across Digital, Merchandising, Design, Production, and Supply Planning.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in merchandise planning, inventory planning, demand planning, or related analytical role.
  • Experience analyzing sales, inventory, receipts, and product performance and translating findings into recommendations.
  • Experience in apparel, footwear, luxury, or omnichannel retail preferred.
  • Experience with merchandise planning, demand forecasting, ERP, or business intelligence systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of seasonal sales, margin, inventory, and merchandise plans within open-to-buy targets.
  • Update forecasts using performance data, business drivers, and planning assumptions.
  • Monitor sell-through, weeks of supply, and lifecycle performance to inform actions.
  • Prepare recurring business reporting, forecast updates, and planning materials for leadership reviews.
  • Collaborate with Site Operations and Digital teams to improve revenue and inventory productivity.

The DTC Merchandise Planner serves as an analytical and execution-focused partner to the Senior Manager of E-Commerce Planning for Peter Millar’s direct-to-consumer e-commerce business. The role supports disciplined planning and inventory decisions by delivering accurate forecasts, timely insights, and coordinated follow-through across Digital, Merchandising, Design, Production, Supply Planning, Operations, and Site Operations. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical judgment with organization, attention to detail, and the ability to translate business performance into clear recommendations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Support the development of seasonal sales, margin, inventory, and merchandise plans; maintain category-, style-, and SKU-level plans within approved financial and open-to-buy targets.
  • Update weekly, monthly, and seasonal sales and demand forecasts using current performance, known business drivers, and aligned planning assumptions.
  • Maintain SKU-level forecasts and recommended purchase quantities for Essentials and other replenishment programs for the DTC business, balancing product availability with inventory productivity.
  • Measure and improve forecast accuracy by evaluating forecast performance, identifying sources of variance, and leveraging machine-learning or AI-generated forecasts alongside business judgment to refine demand plans and inventory recommendations.
  • Track inbound receipts and purchase orders for the DTC business, coordinate follow-up with Supply Planning and Production, and elevate risks affecting launch dates, availability, or marketing priorities.
  • Monitor sell-through, weeks of supply, in-stock rates, and product lifecycle performance; identify risks and opportunities and recommend actions.
  • Analyze inventory across channels and recommend transfers, receipt adjustments, promotional actions, markdowns, and end-of-season strategies to maximize sales and improve company-wide sell-through.
  • Evaluate historical and current performance by category, product, price point, size, and season, including recurring size analysis, to inform future plans and inventory decisions.
  • Prepare recurring business reporting, forecast updates, scenario analyses, and planning materials for review with planning leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Partner with Site Operations and Digital teams to assess product and category performance and support initiatives that improve revenue, conversion, availability, and inventory productivity.
  • Perform analysis and support for the brick and mortar store business as needed.
  • Maintain accurate planning data, document assumptions and decisions, and execute approved inventory actions in a timely manner.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience using large data sets to build analyses, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to connect quantitative findings to practical business recommendations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Analytics, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 2-4 years of experience in merchandise planning, inventory planning, demand planning, or a related analytical role supporting an e-commerce or DTC business. Demonstrated experience analyzing sales, inventory, receipts, and product performance and translating findings into recommendations. Experience in apparel, footwear, luxury, or omnichannel retail preferred. Experience with merchandise planning, demand forecasting, ERP, or business intelligence systems preferred.
