Catholic Charities, Diocese of Paterson is seeking a Direct Support Professional - Program Assistant to join the Department For Persons With Disabilities (DPD). The role partners with leadership to provide compassionate, quality services in group home settings and to supervise residential counselors.

A valid NJ driver’s license, basic computer skills, and CPR/First Aid readiness are required. The position includes paid training, medical/dental, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, 403B

Qualifications

• One year experience working with persons with developmental disabilities and/or a degree in a related field preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School/GED diploma.
• Must have a valid (non-provisional) driver’s license in the State of New Jersey and points on license not to exceed 5 points.
• Required to drive agency vehicles to transport service recipients on a regular basis.
• Should have knowledge of, or willingness to learn computer programs.
• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times
• The ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Partners with the Program Director to provide quality services to residents and uphold the agency philosophy in day-to-day tasks.
• Work with the Director and Associate Director in the supervision and training of residential counselors.
• Demonstrate excellence in all tasks of the residential counselor position; includes preparing menus, grocery lists and food shopping, scheduling activities, ensuring medications are stocked, coordinating with the pharmacy, and assisting with staff training.
• Coordinate completion of fire drills and participate in administrative tasks.
• Monitor health issues and clothing needs of residents and ensure the home meets agency and governmental standards.
• Maintain written documentation and collaborate with agency administration and state staff during inspections or investigations.
