Job summary

Catholic Charities is seeking a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor to support adults with developmental disabilities in group homes. This part-time role covers 16 hours weekly, Friday and Saturday 3:00pm-11:00pm, with paid training and a benefits package for full-time staff eligibility.

Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, supervision of daily activities, medication assistance, documentation, and transporting residents as needed within the community.

Qualifications

• Motivated to work as part of a team that acts in residents' best interests.
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus.
• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• A valid (non-provisional) driver's license.
• Ability to meet CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures.

• Help meet personal health, safety and welfare of residents in the group home.
• Assist/supervise in bathing, toileting, cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers and residents.

• Daily documentation of services provided and participate in community activities.

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes.

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday).

Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Part Time-Shift: 16 hours per week (Friday and Saturday 3:00pm-11:00pm)

What's the role of a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.


• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.


• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.


• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.


• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.


• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.


• Assist with fun community-based activities
