Job summary

AbleLight is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Olathe to empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live as independently as possible. Responsibilities include helping with dining, mobility, health and hygiene, and accompanying residents on errands and community activities.

The role emphasizes patience, kindness, and a service-oriented mindset. A valid driver’s license and ability to lift 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Active driver’s license in good standing with a clean driving record.
• Willing to pass a background check.
• Willing to complete CPR and First Aid course if not already certified.
• Able to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with dining, mobility, health and hygiene activities.
• Accompany individuals while running errands and accompany to community events.
• Attend special community occasions, outdoor walks, games, and social events.
• Support individuals in achieving personal goals and desires.

Direct Support Professionals empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live their most independent lives possible by:

• Helping residents with dining, mobility, health, and hygiene activities
• Accompanying individuals while running errands
• Attending special community occasions and fun activities like outdoor walks, games, and social events
• Assisting our individuals in achieving their personal goals and desires

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must possess an active driver’s license that is in good standing with a good driving record.
• Willing and able to pass a background check.
• Willing to complete an Adult CPR and First Aid course (if you have this already, even better).
• Embody patience, kindness, and possess a servant’s heart and hands.
• Be able to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
