Job summary

Incompass Human Services, Inc. seeks a Direct Support Professional to provide high-quality care to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Day Services Programs. You will support participation in DHSP/ISP activities, assist with ADLs, and maintain accurate documentation.

As a mandated reporter, you will contact supervisors and DDS/DPPC when abuse or neglect is suspected. A MAP certification is required for CBDS positions, with training available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Previous related experience in childcare/direct support preferred.
• Experience in mental health/special education or human services settings is a plus.
• MAP Certification required for CBDS positions; will train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety and wellbeing of participants; respond to medical needs.
• Act as Mandated Reporter and notify supervisors immediately if abuse or neglect is suspected.
• Monitor safety and cleanliness of the site and report concerns.
• Assist with ADLs and support participation in DHSP/ISP activities.
• Document accurately in treatment charts and data sheets; maintain professional communication.
• Accompany participants on community trips and interact respectfully with all stakeholders.

## DescriptionThis is a bargaining unit positionMonday- Friday; 8:00 am - 2:30 pm, Chelmsford MADirect Support Professional staff are members of a team responsible for providing high quality direct care services to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities who attend Incompass Day Services Programs. Staff are responsible for assisting individuals participating in groups and activities prescribed in the participants Day Habilitation Support Plan (DHSP) or Community Based Day Supports Individual Support Plan (ISP). Day Services Direct Support Professional staff are responsible for regularly interacting with and engaging program participants to ensure they are supported in the completion of their daily routine in the day services program. Staff are responsible for treating all participants with dignity and respect and for ensuring the human rights of all participants served are met.**Essential Job Functions**Responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of participants served, seeking assistance and medical interventions as appropriate.Serves as a Mandated Reporter and is required to advise direct supervisor, DDS and DPPC immediately if abuse and/or neglect of aa participant is suspected.Handle crisis situations according to agency policies and procedures, seeking resources when necessary.Monitor job site for safety, cleanliness and upkeep and take necessary action to ensure same. Report safety concerns per established protocols.Establish rapport with Participants participating in the Day Services program.Support the learning of Participants by the use of motivational techniques, effective interventions and various communication approaches including verbal, gesture, and written communication.Assists in the implementation of each Participant's DHSP or ISP, ensuring that they are engaged in activities that will assist them to reach their goals and objectives. Follows all implementation strategies a written and directed.Assist Individuals with any activities of daily living (ADLs) as applicable to each Participant's abilities.Support each Participants existing relationships and assist in increasing their network of friends and acquaintances.Responsible for producing accurate, legible, and complete documentation for Participants served, including but not limited to treatment charts and data sheets.Carry out all interventions in a Participant's DHSP, ISP or support plans as written and trained.Redirect and/or physically support Participants who may be aggressive using proactive techniques while maintaining self-control.Accompany Participants on community trips using agency vehicles.Communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully with Participants, co-workers, management, guardians, and others while on company time.Responsible for being familiar with and abiding by Agency, Department, and Program policies and procedures and for acting in a manner consistent with organizational values, mission, and goals.Serve as an active, contributing, and problem-solving member of the team. Provide support to co-workers including relief staff by sharing knowledge about Participants as appropriate for the role of support staff.Attend and actively participate in mandatory staff meetings and trainings as well as supervision meetings.This job description is not all inclusive and does not state or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by direct support staff.
